Mowar’s very first outing comes with a wee funky ep, penned down by Belgium’s finest Franco Cangelli, backed by more deep funkiness to be found in the remixes of Russ Gabriel and Ireland’s deepest producer Lerosa. The ep hits it off with ‘Wee Funk’. As the name suggests, the track is a funky chord work out, aiming directly at some deep booty shaking and funked up dancefloors. Russ Gabriel’s remix grooves along the same lines with a slightly more dubbed out house feel appealing to both deep techno and house heads. The flipside brings you ‘Innocence In a Jar’. Stripped down funkiness on a gentle Chicago tip, with a deep ‘hip shaking’ bassline. Lerosa delivers his trademark deep house feel, reworking ‘Innocence In a Jar’ into a sweet and subtle sexy tune, perfectly suitable for those soft ‘silk sheets’ moments. ‘Deep’ and ‘Funky are the key adjectives for Mowar’s very first release!
Lee Holman from Wexford Ireland already recorded for fine labels such as Ferox and Nightvision and delivers a brilliant deep techno 4-tracker on Mowar. The ep starts with intoxicatingly rolling beats and a sexy build-up of dancefloor madness. ‘Depart’ makes the dancefloor take off at full speed! ‘Transit’ then takes us back at cruising speed with a groovy infectious little melody that slowly finds its way in our braincells and sends all the right signals to keep our bodies moving to those beats! ‘Arrival’ hits hard with jacking beats, dbx-style, but builds up to layers of stabbing pads and gripping bass sounds, the perfect crescendo to peak-time techno delight! This will leave you wanting for more! The ep ends in a stripped and bleepy track called ‘Return’, which will pierce through your mind like an alien virus and will have you admitted to a mental institution in no time.
Franco Cangelli is back on Mowar with deep and spacy techno grooves. ‘Locked On’ goes in a stripped down techno alley with basic square grooves layered with a drifting sawtooth bass sound that gradually shows its teeth and gets you down there… Estroe turns this groover into a deep workout, soul music for emotional cyborgs, with strings creating a melancholic Detroitish feel. ‘Create Your Own Space’ is a techno soul track where stabbing chords and lullaby pads make sweet love to square bass melodies and off-beat rhythms. It’s a deep groover in the strictest sense. Glasgow’s Solab from Seventh Sign give the track a more uplifting feel retaining the original’s deepness but adding an element of raw dancefloor friendliness. Mowar stands for quality deep techno and this third release delivers you just that!
After a well-deserved break Mowar is back on track and proudly delivers its 4th release by Italy’s upcoming techno talent Roberto Bosco. Hailing from the Naples area, Roberto delivers 2 deep techno groovers. Login Exact opens up from the start with a very vicious and infectious groove, grabbing you instantly and looping your mind into deep techno heaven. Deep seductive chords and a most efficient bassline topped with a joyfully sweet melancholic melody. It’s a must for the deeper dancefloors out there! Login Dub takes a more dubbed out route as the title suggest, subtle detroitish chords, hooking bassline and a basic but solidly throbbing rhythm spiced with sonic delights. The flipside carries a brilliant remix by Offkey Industries boss Matt O’Brien. From the very first second you’re hooked on its groove and atmosphere. A Robert Hood-like feel would be the right way describe this essential and must-have remix. Mercilessly throbbing subsonic kicks, insidious chords and an eerie melody inviting you to explore the darker realms of your mind.
